Yes, your approach is correct. Just make sure that you are not putting too much pressure over the wound with non stick pads. Tie them gently allowing bit of a room. Once a day antibiotic ointment is enough.
If it is okay you can forward me a picture of the burns lesion the next time you remove the pad. (You can reply as a followup)
If there is throbbing pain which is persistant for more than 24 hours, swelling , discharge , further peeling off of tissue you should consider visiting a Doctor directly
