Resolved question:
Hi doctor. I have diabetes and erectile dysfunction. This was not there before but occurred sometime later. I also feel some tiny blister like pimples on my penis. My friend showed me pictures of herpes and I doubt is itanyway related with STD and other diseases? What can I do for it?

Thanks for your question. I see your concern regarding STD and erectile dysfunction which has become really common with diabetics these days. Erectile dysfunction is the inability of the penis to get erected during sexual intercourse or lose its erection in the meanwhile. This problem increases with age. Most of the male population that suffer from diabetes complains of this disorder. Erectile dysfunction occurs when blood vessels, muscles and nerves of the genitals stops functioning properly. Besides this, this can also result from psychological thoughts rather than physical incapability. There are many treatments for this and they all seem to be effective. Smoking also plays a major role in erectile dysfunstion. Penis pumps are available which are used just prior to sexual intercourse. My friend erectile dysfunction has nothing to do with blisters on your affected area. Pictures of herpes are very similar to common blisters or pimples. So you need to get yourself sure about it. Common blisters fade away with time. Herpes blisters keep on enlarging and getting worse if not cured. They are highly contagious and can get transmitted to your partner during sexual intercourse. So you need to be very careful about it. Do not keep any physical contact with anyone if your blisters bleed or rupture. Consult your doctor as quickly as possible and get yourself tested for STDs and to be on the safer side get your partner tested too. Take your diabetes medications on time, practice regular exercise, keep yourself tension free and maintain proper hygiene. I wish u all the luck for future.
