Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have gone through all your reports, and all your parameters are normal. Some of them are slightly high, but that is nothing abnormal and can vary among individuals.
You have nothing to worry about.
Your hemoglobin level is slightly high. But again that is nothing to worry.
Are you a smoker?
Kindly reply as a follow up,
Regards.
Patient replied :
I was a smoker smoking 20 cigarettes a day but I quit successfully in August 2013. I haven't smoked a single cigarette since more than an year.
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
Since you used to smoke earlier, the hemoglobin values will be slightly higher. As well the other parameters like MCV, or MCHC.
Again there is no cause to worry.
Let me know if you have any other queries,
Regards.

Hi,
I have been following a dietician and have managed to lose close to 35 kgs over the past 2 years. I have also been a heavy drinker till about 6 months back so I was worried if that might have impacted my liver in any manner. The high iron levels were a bit disturbing. Do I need any follow up tests to be done or is everything ok?
Hello,
Yes your fatty liver is likely to be due to the heavy drinking.
If you have stopped drinking, then the fatty liver won't progress and it is advisable you do not drink further.
You can repeat your tests in 3 months, especially your CBC, and serum iron levels.
It will be normal mostly.
Please do not worry, such variations exist in some individuals and that is normal.
Regards.

Hi,
Do I need to give up drinking completely or can I indulge socially like a pint of beer twice in a week since my LFT results are normal.
Hello,
Yes you can have occasional drinks. It won't cause any harm. Don't have more than a pint though.
Just make sure you do not end up binge drinking, since it can cause alcoholic gastritis and affect liver.
Also avoid fatty and oily food.
Regards.
