ACL surgery in the past and pull or tear at same knee

Resolved Question:

Hi - I had ACL surgery and my meniscus repaired using my hamstring a little over a year ago and recently have been playing basketball again with no issue other than the slight swelling after playing. Recently I was doing some hamstring curls and felt a pull or slight stretch/tear sensation at the back of my knee on the right side and the bottom portion of my hamstring. I continued to work out with a little to no discomfort and there has been no swelling since, however there is some sharp pain in that area now and am concerned.

Could this be something more serious or did I just strain the muscle slightly and just need to give it some rest? Should I stay off of it or can I continue to play?

Thanks,
Aaron

Patient replied :

there is no feeling of giving way, no locking that I can tell, and the pain occurs when standing.
To be more clear the pain happens when I fully extend my leg and the pain is in the back right of my knee. My thought is that it could be a meniscus tear or I hurt my hamstring tendon some how.

Thanks for information.

If there is no giving away or locking then most probably you have stretched your hamstring tendon.Take the help of a good physiotherapist,do cold fomentation & take a mild anti inflammatory analgesic,Avoid playing for few days,

Rest will help you in early recovery.

Hope this will help you.

With best wishes.
