Resolved question:
Hi doctor, I am a 21 years old girl. I am desperate as I have kissed a guy who had HSV type 2 infection. I came to know that it is a sexually transmitted disease which is easily transmitted orally by kissing or by oral sex. Anyway I haven’t did any sex, including oral sex, with him. Moreover I haven’t got any oral symptoms till now, but have got small pimple like blisters in my genital areas. Is it due to the infection I may have got from him? Or is it simply caused by heat or so? Please answer me as soon as possible. I am really frustrated with this.

As you may know, genital herpes is caused by two types of viruses. They are Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 and Herpes Simplex Virus type 2. Of these, HSV Type 2 is the reason for causing oral infections. Oral creative sexual practices can cause spread of both types of virus. It is usually seen affected and cause visible symptoms in areas where sexual activity is taken place. This is because the virus stays in the nerves of the part involved. This means the kiss is only an oral one involving oral parts only, infection will affect oral parts of body only causing oral bumps and lesions. You may get genital herpes if he had given you oral sex like cunnilingus where mouth to vagina contact occurs. It is not evident that the pimple like lesions you have mentioned are due to genital herpes or not. HSV lesions will cause formation of ulcers and give our while or clear discharges too. It can also result in inflamed hair follicles. Usually, infection will result in visible symptoms like blisters and bumps in 2-7 days. A close examination by doctor, at a clinic will help you in revealing the might of infection. For treatment, doctors suggest antiviral medications like Acyclovir. Anyway, you cannot get rid of the disease fully. Hope my answer was helpful. Take care.
