Dear Sir/Madam,
I have recently started to work as a trainee dental nurse. I've always been very cautios when it comes to health and safety, however the other day something happened, that now it's in the back of my mind. We finished late at the practice and I was in a hurry to collect my 5 year old little boy. I only needed to take a few instruments in the decon room and I was ready to go. As I was done with the cleaning of the surgery I'd taken my gloves off, when I noticed that the lid of the little plastic box that we use for handpieces and scaler tips was still open. So I quickly closed it (with my bare hands) and I was about to leave when I remembered to take my bottle of water. I grabbed the bottle ( not by the neck) and I left it at reception to collect it once I was done in the decontamination room. Without going through the whole story, my little boy ended up drinking of this bottle that I'd touched with my dirty hands, and it turned out, that he also had a little cut on his bottom lip. I am now very concerned, that he might have caught something. Although I hope the risk is very low, I would very much appreciate if you could advise me, and let me know if I should contact our GP.
Many thanks!!
