Resolved question:
Dear Doctor,
I am feeling pain, itching and some yeast infection after since I had unprotected sex and I am afraid if these are the STD symptoms. My doctor told that I am having yeast infection and has given medication Fluconazole to cure it. The man I had sex with informed me that he is suffering from bacterial infection and his doctor has prescribed him a medication named Azithromycin for him and for me as well. Can I take both of these medications together?

Thanks for your question and concern. I totally understand what you are going through and the problems like vaginal discharge, pain and itching are the most nagging and the common problems that women face. Sometimes it happens that doctors prefer the treatment through syndrome management where the diagnosis and the treatment is based on the syndromes rather than depending upon the testing and predicting the disease. You can consume both the medications that you have mentioned above, Azithromycin and Fluconazole together but I would suggest you to visit a doctor who may help you with this in a safe and fast manner where you will get cured soon. There are different STD symptoms amongst different people and you need not worry about it rather you can get yourself tested against the STD so that you can come to know if everything is fine or not. It would also be good if you have only protected sex with your male partner and try to restrict to just one male partner instead of having sex with multiple male partners because that can cause the various sexual infections and diseases in your body and in the genital areas. You can talk about the different STD symptoms to your doctor to enhance your knowledge about the same and be protected and safe from any such diseases. Best wishes.
