Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I need you to give me a few more details before I give you my opinion :
1) Where exactly is the pain - around your shoulder joint/ elbow/ wrist? Or is it through out your hand?
2) Any numbness associated?
3) Does the pain last throughout the day?
4) Can you rate the pain on a scale of 1-10?
5) Any fever/ other joint involvement?
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

The pain is through out the hand with no numbness. It gets better through the day and is gone by evening. the pain is around an 8 when I wake up and no fever is involved. I am a smoker, about a pack and a half a day.

Hello,
Since it gets better as the day passes, and with no other history of any joint involvement arthritis/ osteoporosis can be ruled out.
In some cases such unilateral pain could arise because of the sleeping posture. Do you sleep on your back ( supine ) or do you like sleeping prone?
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
