Resolved question:
I have a whitish bump in my right tonsil, which has been there about 6 months. I do get tonsil stones, however, this is different as it cannot be pushed out and seems connected by tissue (if I try to dislodge it, it just bleeds). What could this be? It is annoying and wondering if I should go to an ENT. My regular dr didn't know.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your problem
You have small cyst on right tonsil. If this is asymptomatic and not causing any pain then we can leave it without any intervention, you should not try to remove it as it is not simple debris filling tonsillar crepts. It looks like it is covered with mucosa, that’s why you have bleeding when you are pocking it.
If it is symptomatic than you can consult local ENT specialist who can guide you and if needed he can remove it. Some time when it causes persistent bad smell/ halitosis then we do tonsillectomy operation (removal of tonsil) also.
You can start hexidine mouth wash or betadine gargle for symptomatic relief .
Hope this helps, feel free to ask further queries.
Best regards
Are there any possible complications by leaving this alone? These things can't turn into anything like cancer right? Thank you.
Hello,
Tonsil cyst is a benign(non cancer) condition. This has no malignant (cancer) potential. So you need to worry about cancer, now or in future.
