Resolved question:
I am currently on a low calorie, low glycemic, low protein, ketogenic diet. Is it an acceptable way to manage or maybe even reverse my type II diabetes?

Hello. Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com. Type 2 Diabetes is usually not reversible but the good thing is it is easily manageable. If good control is achieved, your quality of life will also be good and you do not have to view it as a burden. If you are overweight, then a low calorie, low glycemic diet will definitely help in keeping type 2 Diabetes in check. This diet and exercise alone may be sufficient to effectively manage your Diabetes if its in its early stage. However, a low protein and ketogenic diet is not good for Diabetes and you should consume adequate proteins and limit ketogenic foods. You should stick to a low glycemic diet and low caloric if you are overweight. If your weight is in the normal range, then you have to consume the recommended calories for you but they should be spread out with more frequent meals of lesser calories over the day. I hope that was helpful. Feel free to ask queries. Thank you.
