Resolved question:
On Saturday evening I started having pain in my right hip area, between my hip and my belly button. The pain is worse when I lay down, specially on my right side, or when I sit up (driving or sitting at my desk) The pain gets a little better then comes back worse. No fever, vomiting, or stomach cramps. The pain gets worse if I touch the area, but my stomach is not tender to touch. Do you think I could have pulled a muscle working out at the gym? I did legs and abs on Saturday and at first I thought it was that, but the pain get worse not better. No fever means it is not appendicitis correct??

Thanks for choosing doctorspring.com I understand your concern. The pain in appendictis keeps getting worse, but initially it can be manifested just as a dull pain which keeps getting sharper. Also the pain kind of fits your description, as you're saying its near your naval ring. The pain in appendicitis is close to the belly button. Usually that's the first sign. I will explain the other symptoms so that you can relate. You will gradually develop complete loss of appetite, and then develop fever high grade around 102-103 degree F. Patients also start having vomiting and nausea tendency. Since you have not complained of such symptoms and its already been 3 days, it doesn't look like appendicitis. However, in my opinion its better to get an USG whole abdomen done, just to rule out appendicular lump, and in case it is an appendicular lump, medical treatment can be immediately started and it can be controlled. From your complete history, it does point more towards muscle pull, since you also worked out on your ABS. Try tablet myospaz twice a day after food, which should relieve your muscle pain. In case its not getting better by tomorrow, just get an USG whole abdomen done, to be on the safer side. Also try to avoid working out for a few days since these kind of pain keeps aggravating till you completely relax your muscle. Hope this helps, Regards
