Weird feeling on stopping sugar, low carb diet. Cause?

Resolved question:
Ten days ago I decided to quit sugar cold turkey. I am 80 lbs. overweight, and having just turned 40, I decided it is time for a lifestyle change. I also decided to start a low carb diet and reduced my portions in half as well. I am having a difficult time. I am not a diabetic. My fasting blood sugar has been a steady 90-91 every morning. My post prandial sugar reading is 105. However, I am having some issues with feeling lightheaded, sometimes I feel pressure in my forehead, I feel like I do not have energy, and on two occasions I felt nauseated. I have trouble concentrating and am somewhat irritable. When I eat a good sized meal full of carbs, I feel fine. I feel like my old self. When I eat a small meal twice a day, mainly brown rice, tofu, and a salad, I feel weird a few hours later. To be fair, I consumed a large amount of sugar daily. My job is very stressful, and I find myself relieving this stress with sweets. It has been ten days since I stopped eating sugar, including all fruits. Is it normal to feel this way for an extended time? I have read online how most people struggle for only 3-5 days. I feel miserable. I can't seem to get back to feeling normal.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
It is not only totally stopping the sugars but also reducing the calories by 50% that is responsible for your symptoms like headache, poor concentration, irritability, lack of energy etc.
And your stressful job is worsening the symptoms.
I would advise you not to stop sugar cold turkey and cut the calories by 50% abruptly. Instead you can gradually reduce the intake of sugar and calories over a period of days to weeks allowing your body to adjust itself to the dietary change.
I feel that answers your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
