Urethritis can be caused by either a viral or bacterial infection that is usually transmitted sexually. You will need to get tested. Here is what I suggest:
1. Some tests you will need include blood tests, swab cultures of the discharge, and urine analysis.
2. You will need to do testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and other sexual transmitted diseases.
3. Gonorrhea is the most common sexually transmitted disease. Gonorrhea infected individuals usually are infected with chlamydia as well.
4. You can treat the infection with antibiotics, specifically ceftriaxone injections with oral azythromycin.
