Resolved question:
I have uncontrolled gas coming out of my butt all day. Depending on what I eat the smell can get worse. I was diagnosed with GERD after that happened I had this pressure going from my tummy to my head one day. I almost fainted when it happened. The next day I hear an air sound coming from my bottom. It sounded like the air that comes out of a balloon. After that day I keep having this gas but it isn't as bad as it used to be and I don't experience stomach pain. I don't have poop draining from down below. I can fart controlled if I want to. Every now and than I do have some reflux in my throat but it is very mild. I have changed my diet and lost some weight. I think milk makes me very gassy so, eliminating it has decreased my gas a lot. What I have found is that I have to be very careful of what I eat or my gas will get worse. I had and MRI done, no fistula showed etc., and I also had an anal exam done which showed intact sphincter. I had a colonoscopy done and everything looks good, except at the bottom of my esophagus the stomach is coming up into the esophagus tube. I had a tube put down my throat and it showed the GERD. I just am wondering why I have this uncontrolled gas. Do you think it is diet related? Can foods cause this gas to form to this degree and push out of my body in this way? I want to be able to walk into a room without making it smell like a trash can. I do have a history of hemorrhoids but since I eat fiber etc., they haven't bothered me or bled.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You have two issues - GERD and increased flatulence.
GERD symptoms can be controlled with medications like prilosec and dietary modifications. Take prilosec once a day before breakfast for 4-8 weeks. Avoid coffee, citrus, chocolates, fatty food, tomatoes tec. Eat multiple smaller meals and go to bed at least 2-3 hours after food.
Increased flatulence is due to increased intestinal gas. This in turn can occur if you have gut infection or due to certain food items. Get a stool test to rule out gut infection. You can take a course of Rifaximin to treat gut infection. You can take probiotics/yogurt regularly.
Since milk makes you very gassy, you can consider avoiding it or alternatively take Beano to control gas due to drinking milk.
Avoid gas forming food items like cabbage, beans, cauliflower, broccoli etc.
Simethicone also helps to reduce flatulence.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
HI, Dr. I am wondering what is causing this anal gas seepage?
I think it is because you have an intenstinal infection as mentioned in my previous reply.
Once you take Rifaximin, it will settle down.
