Resolved question:
We are vacationing in Peru. Our 47 year old mentally handicapped daughter has developed a severe pain in the Epigastric Region that has not gone away 48 hours, had a fever up to 101 for the first few hours and water diahrea. She has had a history of pain around the gallbladder when eating fatty food but her last blood test said the Gall Bladder was ok. We are flying home 25th of Feb. and I am worried about her flying. I have first given her pepto then the last 24 hours gave her lopridamine ??? every time they she had diahrea. The only thing we can do here is go to an Emergency Clinic that only speaks Spanish.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Your doctor is having a stomach bug causing diarrhea and a possible gastritis.
Since you are on vacation and getting few tests done is not possible I would advise you the following.
1. Prilosec/omeprazole for her epigastric pain half an hour before breakfast
2. A course of probiotics which would help to have faster recovery from diarrhea.
3. Tylenol every 6 hours for fever
4. Tablet Ciprofloxacin with metronidazole twice a day for the stomach bug.
Give her enough fluids to keep her well hydrated.
I wish her a faster recovery with these medications.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
