Resolved question:
I'm worried because I've been burnt recently from the sun, which have blistered. This has recently only happen twice, on my nose and on my scalp and the burn was bad because some of my hair was melted.
I never got burned as a child and never peeled or anything.
At age 22 I used the solarium about ten times and probably got burnt about five times but never bad enough for peeling.
At age 23-26
I probably used the solarium 10-15 times and got burnt about another 5 or so times but only peeled once or twice.
I have always been very careful in the normal sun besides the two recent blistering burns.
Also when I've used the solarium I've always put sunblock on moles. I don't have very many though.
I have no history of skin cancer in my family and I am naturally pale but with brown eyes and very dark brown hair.
I'm very worried and thought because when I was using the solarium and covering moles I was safe even though I was sometimes burning.
Can u please read all my questions carefully and tell me as a percentage what u think my risk would be to develop any type of skin cancer not just melanoma.
Thankyou and I hope I'm ok.

Hello
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring. I can understand your concern.
From the history you have provided, it's apparent that your skin type is the one which will easily burn in the sun.
The chances of you getting any type of skin cancer is quite high. I can't tell you the exact percentage as it varies from person to person.
I would recommend that you reduce acute Sun exposures as much as possible and use a Sun block to cover all Sun exposed areas. That would help to some extent.
Hope this helps, Please let me know if you have any queries.

Ok so from the severe blistering burns and few other minor burns is there a good chance I will get skin cancer now or if I stop going in the solarium from now on, would I be ok and my chances would lower over time?
Or have I done enough damage and the damage is done?
Please answer I'm very worried.
Hello
Thanks for your reply.
I can understand your worries.
Skin cancers do not develop immediately after Sun exposure but after many years. If you discontinue using the solarium, there are good chances that the risk is lowered. If you continue to use it then the risk definitely increases. Whether damage has been done or not from using the solarium so far is difficult to predict. However, preventive measures henceforth will surely bring down the chances of getting skin cancer.
Please use a sunblock Atleast thrice daily whether you are indoors or outdoors.

I have replenix cf cream with green tea and caffeine is it worth putting on my areas that where severly burned?
Also I was thinking about buying some vitamin c cream and retina a cream is this worth it?
Also I always drink orange juice 1000 mg worth of vitamin c. Is that worth it?
What about drinking green tea and how much? I can get really old leaves?
My scap was also burned quite a bit can u recommend a shampoo or something, how can leave in over night, how about replenix body wash and use it on my scalp or body?
And lastly can u reccommend any products u suggest I use?
At the moment I only have replenix cf cream and use dermadoctor zinc cleanser born to be mild because I also have seb derm. Snd I drink orange juice and will drink green tea. Is this enough or should I buy the products i mentioned? Or any products u think?
Please read and answer all questions. Thankyou
Hello
Thanks for your reply.
Replenix cf cream may not directly reverse tyre effects of the sun exposure, but there is no harm in giving it a try .
Vitamin c cream will help in healing of the skin but Retin A will irritate it a bit more, hence I would recommend not using it.
Drinking orange juice will be helpful due to the vitamin c content.
For the severely burnt scalp I would recommend using cortisone lotion at night for a week. Replenix may not directly reverse the changes nor will it heal the burnt scalp.
Drinking green tea has beneficial effects in the long run which will help in fighting off cancer and the anti oxidant properties which help in overall good health of skin.
I would recommend that you use a high spf sunscreen which will help in reducing the harmful effects of the sun on your skin.
The sunscreen be it of any brand, preferably a medicated one like ansolar or cetaphil.
I hope this helps with the questions, Please let me know if you have any queries.

Everything has heald more than a week ago. I'm concerned about DNA cell damage and the cells aggressing. What can I do to reverse the cell damage and stop the cells from making too many besides staying out of the sun. I want to know what I can do topically and orally to reverse the damage I've done in regards to cells and skin cancer risk. Let me know. Thanks
Hello
I would recommend taking oral supplements of beta carotene and anti oxidants and vitamin E. These will help in reducing the free radicals thereby reducing the risk.
