Resolved question:
I am on a lot of different medications, some of which I know interact, but are managed by a top psychopharmacologist in the area. These are the medications I'm on and the dosages. Armour thyroid 30mg, Valtrex 500mg, Parnate 60mg, Ritalin 10mg, Spironolactone 100mg, Diazepam 30 mg, Trazodone 75mg and Seroquel 100mg. Ever since I started suppressive therapy on Valtrex my Spironolactone does not seem to be helping with my acne nearly as well. These two particular medications are not suppose to interact. Why would this be?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Acne is known to occur with Valtrex, although less common than with other medications like Phenytoin. You need to consult your physician for a change of drug or consult a dermatologist for treatment of acne.
If you share the images of your acne, I can forward this consult to our dermatologist and get an opinion from her.

InHouse Physician.
What about Famvir? Does it cause acne?

No, Famvir is not known to cause acne. It causes other side effects like weakness, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, weight gain, e.t.c
Feel free to discuss further,

How does Valtrex cause acne?
Unfortunately, the Valtrex has more side effects compared to other anti-viral medicines.
Even though, the incidence is low, but still acne is one of the side effects.
