Hi, I am 17 years old female, studying in college. I had unprotected oral sex with my boyfriend a month before. Though we had a protected sex on the same day using condoms but soon after a week, I developed a sore throat, running nose and sometimes sneezing. Is there any way this could be any sort of STD? If not could throat pain be anything to do with receiving unprotected oral sex. I do not want people to think I sleep around; it’s just the way things that happened. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it a lot.

Hi, Thanks for contacting us. Keep in mind that throat pain can be a sure shot sign of any STD except HIV/AIDS as its symptoms do not show up so rapidly. Go to clinic and get tested. Most countries have free and anonymous testing clinics. STDs can spread through oral sex as well as anal sex so always practice safe sex. You can never be too safe and too careful. I am sure it is nothing major or life threatening…. Get to the clinic and ask questions from doctor and be honest about everything.
