Shush sound in head from tinnitus, swimming.

Resolved question:
Recently I was experiencing mild tinnitus. I suspect this is due to a swim I had and ear candle wax thing (non intrusive type). Tried betacert, ginkgo, cerumol and they all worked to reduce it. In fact after 1 month the tinnitus in my left ear is completely gone. I read on internet that some say tinnitus can also be experienced inside your head. I'm still confused here, as I can hear this really minute shush sound when I actually try to hear it and it's in my head level. From what I've read, everyone will experience some form of tinnitus so can I say that is what I'm experiencing? I saw an ENT recently, he probed my ears (all clear), nose (all clear) and did an MRI. The results are all good. Audio gram results turned out to be normal with maximum at 30db for 6khz. Can I say that I shouldn't worry about this very minute shush sound that I'm hearing on the head level? My only concern is, will it worsen? For example on outings, must I really watch for 85db as it's just impossible.

If everyone have a certain degree of tinnitus within them on the head level, shouldn't we all fear that the tinnitus might worsen with potential loud noise exposure? As I said, my tinnitus in the ear is gone and it's only on the head level. And I think I've had for the longest time.

Trying to live positively here. Thank you for your reply...

Hello.

Thank you for using Ask a Specialist Service from DoctorSpring.com.

Tinnitus can de due to many causes including simple wax in ear, ear perforation, disease of small bones of ear or due to nerve deafness etc.

In your case, your ear examination done by an ENT specialist indicated that there was no wax and ear drum was intact (No perforation).

Your audiogram is normal. So this tinnitus is not related to nerve deafness.

Your MRI of the brain is also normal. So you need not worry about anything related to the brain.
As your tinnitus has also improved with medication. I want to reassure you that you need not worry about it.
You can continue ginkgo (Bilovas) one tablet daily for another 2 months. With this, your tinnitus will disappear fully.

Your hearing is normal(Up to 25 dB it is normal), and there is no pathology. So your symptom will not worsen further.

I am happy to know that you want to live positively, because that is all you need when there is no disease.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Thank you.

Hi Dr, Thank you for the reply. I just realized that for some time now I have been having a very minute whissing sound and it's very minute that I only hear it if I look for it. The actual tinnitus noise (on my head and ear) is completely gone. I do want to live my life positively without worrying that, that particular minute whissing sound (very minute) doesn't get worst if I go for some movies, live bands, clubs etc. All the results are still the same from the previous attached report. I am on Gingko pill 2tabs x 2 days from now on. As long as I know that I won't worsen it, I should feel so much better to continue my life. Appreciate your reply. Thanks.

Hello,

I am happy to know that you are doing fine and tinnitus is very minute. You can continue the Gingko pills.

As we discussed earlier that we are not missing any pathology, your tinnitus will not worsen in future, even in the presence of loud music etc.

I expect that this mild tinnitus will disappear soon.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Thank you.

Hello.

Your minute tinnitus may worsen with exposure to noise such as in clubs/live bands etc. It's common and you may need to avoid these places until you are completely free of the tinnitus.

Continue the Gingko pills and live your life positively. I expect that this minute tinnitus will disappear soon.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you.

Thank you there DR. I don't know how but I think my question got published twice. But the interesting thing is, I see two different replies to it. Appreciate if you can clarify. My ENT ran through all the results and he seems to perceive that there is no issue with my ear and internal system (MRI). He feels that loud music at the bar, clubs shouldn't affect my hearing/ very minute whish sound as he agrees that there isn't any pathology in my case. After describing how minute the sound is, he agrees that it could be a blood vessel close to my cochlea and hence the very minute swish sound is perceived. He confirms that I can visit those places with no worries and lead a positive life. I have heard all samples of tinnitus noise and none represents my condition. In fact, the very minute whish sound is like part of my body. Appreciate if you can re-affirm the same that it shouldn't affect it. Thanks.

Hello,

Hearing sound form your blood vessel or from chewing or yawing is also common. it is not a disease. So it may be any of these,it is difficult to locate exact cause. whatever it is, nothing to worry and no intervention required.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Thank you.
