Shortness of breath after meals.ECHO and STRESS TEST.

Resolved question:
My mother, aged 56, diabetic since 15 years, has symptoms of shortness of breath. She gets tired especially after meals. We visited doctors who suggested two tests as below;

Test 1: Heart Echocardiography (attached)
Test 2: Stress Test (attached)

Question 1: What does these test results suggests?
Question 2: Is there any contradiction between both reports or they suggest similar issue?
Question 3: What are recommended next steps?

Hello. Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.
I understand your concern. The two tests are meant to provide different information. The 2D ECHO indicates that the heart is so far undamaged and having a normal function. However, the other test suggests that when put under stress, the blood supply to her heart is reduced. A large area of the heart has moderately reduced blood supply under stress of moderate intensity. This indicates that there may be blockages in the arteries (blood vessels) of your mother's heart. This requires a coronary angiography for further definition of the coronary artery anatomy and to find the blockages.
Depending on the number and the severity of blockages as seen on the angiography, she can be advised either angioplasty, bypass surgery or just medical treatment.
I hope this was helpful. Feel free to discuss further.
Regards, Dr Vivek Mahajan, DM Cardiology.
