Severe pain on straightening knee on standing up

Resolved question:
ok so my question is regarding a knee problem. When I sit down for short or long periods of time and then get up I feel tremendous pain in my right knee as I straighten it out when standing. The pain only lasts for a few steps and once i'm on the move its gone. This only started about a month ago give or take.

FYI, I'm 27, male, about 175 cm tall, and currently weigh about 86 kg. Also note that 3 and a half months ago I was around 100kg and that's pretty much when I started working out on my fitness (crossfit training) to lose weight and improve my health in general. For the first month I would exercise 3 times a week then I raised that to 6 times a week, each session an hour long and even now I don't feel any pain while exercising or moving about in general.

should i be worried, is it possibly overtraining, do I need to get an x-ray perhaps?

Also note that I was unfit and overweight, well for a very long time, 10 years or more if it makes a difference in your diagnosis

Hello,

Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com. I have read your query with diligence.

It looks that you are having knee pain which you feel when you stand after sitting for long or short time. This problem is generally encountered with either meniscus injuries or with abnormalities at patella or knee cap bone. At present you need a MRI investigation to detect any early abnormality at your knee. This can be a meniscus injury at your knee which can be due to presence of overweight, which you had previously. If your meniscus problem is minor then this can be corrected by strengthening exercises of quadriceps, if it is major then this should be repaired by surgery.

Taking X ray is not necessary as this will only show bony abnormalities.

Hope this all will help you. Please feel free to discuss further.

Best Regards
