Resolved question:
Dear Doctor,
Greetings and thanks for your support !
Our story started on 3rd of August:
Me wife went to do Medical Fitness check for renewing her national ID. As they (The Medical Fitness Center staff) asked her to sign on a paper saying "I am not pregnant" to make her X-Ray. My wife signed without any hesitation and went into X-Ray.
On 15th of August:
We made Pregnancy Test and the result was (Positive).
Next day on 16th of August:
We got to the Medical Center and made these tests:
- Blood Group & Rh (Result is: "O" Negative)
- RBS (Result is: "77" mg/dl)
- WBC (Result is: "5.5" 10^3/uL)
- NEUTROPHIL (Result is: "68.4" %)
- LYNPHOCYTES (Result is: "25.4" %)
- MONOCYTES (Result is: "3.4" %)
- EOSINPHILS (Result is: "1.8" %)
- BASOPHILS (Result is: "1.0" %)
- RBC (Result is: "4.43" 10^6/uL)
- HAEMOGLOBIN (Result is: "10.6" g/dL)
- HCT (Result is: "35.3" %)
- MCV (Result is: "79.7" fL)
- MCH (Result is: "23.9" pg)
- MCHC (Result is: "30.0" g/dL)
- RDW (Result is: "12.5" %)
- PLATELETS (Result is: "258" 10^3/uL)
- PCT (Result is: "0.15" %)
- MPV (Result is: "6.0" fL)
- PDW (Result is: "17.9" %)
- HBs Ag (Result is: "NEGATIVE")
- VDRL (Result is: "NON-REACTIVE")
- HCV Ab (Result is: "NEGATIVE")
- HIV I & II Ab (Result is: "NEGATIVE")
That was the results made by today (16th of August 2015).
My main question is,
I hear alot about the dangerous of X-Ray while pregnancy, but I am not sure if this will effect our baby even the very first month or I might say "most first days", So..
- What is the rate of the risk on the baby? (No risk, or there is a chance to risk?)
- What is the shape or the scenario of the risk? (Will effect the pregnancy itself and cause miscarriage? or the baby might be able to get to life, but with possibility to brain damage or any risk could be caused by the X-Ray?)
I want to learn, I want to know well and be educated about this point.. Please help me and get me out of my fear and the feeling about my mistake of not to tell my wife to be aware of the X-Ray. I really feel sorry about this mistake.. Please enlighten me and guide me to the next steps I should do to rescue my wife and baby.
I am sorry about this long story, but as you know.. This is the life !

Hello
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
I have gone through the story and the reports.
I have a few questions for you.
When was her last menstrual period ?
Are her menstrual cycles regular ?
What kind of X ray was done - was it a Chest X ray ?
Please write back with these details so that I can guide you further.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care.
When was her last menstrual period ?
The last menstrual period was in 25 Ramadan 1436, same as 12 July 2015.
Are her menstrual cycles regular ?
Yes, very regular
What kind of X ray was done - was it a Chest X ray ?
Chest X-Ray
Thank you for the information.
First of all - congratulations !
This is a beautiful phase of life, when you will soon be parents.
And now, relax.
THere is no harm, and no danger to your child.
Even in advanced pregnancy, one single X ray can do no harm to the baby.
ANd a chest x ray can cause no damage to the baby in the uterus in the pelvis.
ON the 3rd of AUgust, she was hardly 1 week pregnant, and there is zero possibility that the X ray will harm your unborn child.
SO there is no chance of a risk either, my answer is - NO RISK.
I hope I have brought good news to you.
Please do not worry or be anxious.
Take good care of her.
Make sure she takes 5 mg per day folic acid for the next 3 months.
Let me know if you have any other concerns.
