Red skin in vagina after BV, yeast infection. Treatment.

Resolved question:
Hi,
two months ago I got BV from a new sexual partner. I was treated with antibiotics- metronadizole 500mg 3x day for a week. Then I got a yeast infection. Diflucan didn't help. Neither did 1 day anti fungal cream treatment. then I tried 7 day treatment which made the itching go away. However now I have red skin around the rim of the vaginal vestibule and a sore feeling. This discomfort doesn't go away. I tried using probiotics but that doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
Did you self treat the yeast infection ?
If you did, it is possible that you have persistent / recurrent yeast infection.
A vaginal swab should now be done to confirm the type of infection.
You might require intensive anti fungal treatment, but proceed only after consulting your doctor and having a formal internal exam and a swab.
Have protected sex till then.
Maintain strict perineal hygiene.
Avoid using any medicated / perfumed soaps, cleansers, gels, douches on the area - they alter vaginal pH, thus inviting yeast infections.
Just use lukewarm water to clean.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
Regards.
