Red, dry swollen patches around eye with itching.

Resolved question:
Hello
I have for some time had problems with the skin around my eyes. Patches on eyelid and under the eye become red and very dry ans swollen until the skin comes off and sometimes it bleeds a bit. I thought it might be perioral dermatitis because about 2 years ago I even had this dry, raw patches around my mouth. Before the skin actually comes off it looks like there are lots of tiny blood vessels close to the skin. I have tried different creams from hydro cortison to creams for eczema but if anything they make it worse. The only cream that seems to help is natural calendula cream. I have tested if it could be from make up but that doesn't seem to be the reason as the patches appear even when I don't use anything. I tend to use only natural facial creams but have also tested if those could be a problem by using different face creams over a longer period and there is no difference.

For some time I have even had itchy patches on the back of my head towards the neck area and itching in my ears. Both areas can get quite sore but that's probably because I can't leave scratching them. I don't know if these problems are related to the problem around my eyes. I rather think they are stress related as I have sometimes before had eczema during stressful times and even a patch where I lost all hair due to stress.

Otherwise I see myself as a very healthy person, trying to eat healthy without exaggerating, yoga and hiking 4 times a week. I am 57 years old

Thanks for your advise what to do. I attach a picture but as it a bit better at the moment it doesn't show so much

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your concern.
Depending on the history that you provided , you could be having seborrheic dermatitis which is a type of eczema.
the areas that you described are affected in seborrheic dermatitis.
i would recommend application of elidel cream twice a day which will be helpful in getting the patches under control.
you will need a prescription for it.
Also application of a moisturizer will be helpful to bring it in check.
Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care
