Resolved question:
Hello. I'm an 18-year old female, 5'3" and 127 pounds, who was experiencing cold symptoms before I went to bed (sore throat, coughing, and body aches). A family member offered me Allegra (I'm not sure what strength, but I only took one dose) and I thought taking it would help me sleep. I woke up shortly and noticed a rapid heart beat, a lot of aches, fever and chills, and a bad headache. I tried to sleep but woke up two hours later with no change. I have not drunk much water since taking the Allegra and I went to the bathroom once. What would you recommend to rid the Allegra from my body and treat the symptoms? I took it about three hours ago.

Hello,
Thank you for your query to DoctorSpring.com
The described scenario wherein a piece of wood would travel (retrogradely) in the direction towards the heart from the entry wound of a cut on the finger and follow the exact direction of blood flow that would allow itself to be emptied into the heart circulation is highly unlikely.
Also should this have happened, the piece of wood would be too minor to induce the kind of inflammation mentioned. Therefore, I would like to reassure you the probability of you experiencing severe or long term damage as a result of this scenario is almost improbable unless it has been documented by imaging e.g. ECHO that the piece of wood is actually attached to the endocardium.
Hope this helps
Thank you very much.
I understand doctor's point.
Well I know it is almost impossible to be happen.
Then, lastly I want to ask this.
If something got stuck in layer of heart and inflammation happen and something going on, is it possible not to know the symptom almost 5-6months? (inflammation happen and something bad is going on...)
Sorry to bother you again. it will be the last question. Thank you.
Hello,
Well, hypothetically, if a foreign body were to attach itself to the layers of the heart, symptoms would depend on the size of the foreign body. A larger foreign body would obstruct the blood flow system and symptoms would be more acute and felt versus a smaller foreign body which could remain unnoticed for several years. The outcome of a foreign body presence could be one of two: it could cause no harm at all or it could set up a slow inflammation (which is extremely unlikely)
Hope this helps
