Resolved question:
I just have a question about birth control. I was last sexually active on jan 4, 2014. I currently take sprintec birth control. I think I took too many pills because I lost a pack and found an old pack and took those pills. I had a very light period, almost non existant and every pregnancy test I have taken has been negative. Do you think that there is a chance of pregnancy? I have continued on to take these birth control pills because I still wanted to prevent an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy.

Hello,
Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.
I assume that you have taken a pregnancy tests recently (with in a week or so) and still found it negative. And your last sexual intercourse on Jan 4 , 2014. In that case the negative pregnancy test is correct and you are NOT likely to be pregnant. Pregnancy test would have been positive by this time if you were really pregnant. However I would recommend a repeat test after 1 week, just to be sure.
The scant periods is due to the overdose / irregular pill usage. Take Sprintec 28 in the recommended manner. There are 21 active pills and 7 inactive pills. Do not skip any pills.
"When taking Sprintec (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol tablets) 28 Tablets, the first tablet should be taken on the first Sunday after menstruation begins. If period begins on Sunday, the first tablet should be taken that day. Take one active tablet daily for 21 days followed by one white tablet daily for 7 days. After 28 tablets have been taken, a new course is started the next day (Sunday). For the first cycle of a Sunday Start regimen, another method of contraception should be used until after the first seven consecutive days of administration."
Alternatively if you are rather regualr with the pills you can just continue the cycle. With a regular pill intake for 2-3 cycles you periods should not normalise. If not you willl require additional testing.
Hope this helps
