Resolved question:
Hi my name is Fern, I'm 8 weeks Pregnant and I have had spotting but today I have just had a lot of blood I'm feeling nauseas and I had mild cramp this morning, I live on a farm and am half an hour from my closest town. On my first scan which I had at 6 half weeks my baby had a heart rate of 135 beats of which I was told was good for the size. I would have been due for my period this week if I wasn't pregnant.

Hi Fern and thanks for your queries at DoctorSpring.com.
I am concerned about your situation. Bleeding and cramping can be a sign of a miscarriage and I urge you to seek medical attention as soon as possible. You will need an evaluation by your obstetrician, which will require an ultrasound of your abdomen to check on your baby and its heartbeat. Expect to do blood tests to test for hcg hormones, anemia and rule out infection if is it brewing, and you will also require a pelvic exam (in case of miscarriage).
If for some reason, you cannot make it to the hospital, there is little you can do anyhow to prevent a miscarriage. Stay in bed, get plenty of rest and do not do any strenuous activity to aggravate your pregnancy.
If you start to experience fever and chills, or notice heavy uncontrolled bleeding (more than 1 sanitary pad/hour for 2 consecutive hours), then please visit the hospital as soon as possible. You will need to be evaluated for anemia or infection and you will need immediate medical attention.
Take care and please feel free to ask any follow up questions, if any.
