Resolved question:
I am a mother of a 3 year old child and am pregnant now for 10 weeks. So, I am carrying my second child and suffers from a light bleeding. The blood that comes is bright and red. As of now, I cannot go to hospital, as I am in Greece now, for some business purpose. Should it be safe to ignore this condition till I come back? Will it be OK or is there anything else I should do? Should I go for emergency medical support?

Thank you for using Ask a Doctor Services from Doctor Spring. Often light spotting is not considered a major problem. But spotting or fresh bleeding, especially if it's accompanied by abdominal pain or cramping, needs immediate attention. Hence I can understand that you are on a business trip, but this problem should not be ignored. I would suggest you to visit a gynaecologist as early possible. She might examine your abdomen and could ask for an USG of abdomen as well to ensure that baby is safe and healthy inside the womb. Most probably it could be nothing, but its worthwhile to rule out certain common conditions causing bleeding in early pregnancy like ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage. Do not panic, for your mental relief, I would suggest you to consult a gynaecologist in Greece itself and not wait till you come home. Also, don't not strain much with frequent travelling at this stage, Rest and relax, do not undertake heavy lifting or strenuous exercise, and abstain from sex. As you have come on a business trip, it could be stressful, try to relax as much possible. Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask if you need further help. Thank you.
