Hello ,
Thank you for using ask a doctor service from Doctor Spring .
I understand that you have been suffering from pain on the left side of stomach radiating to the back since 2 weeks .
This pain can be due to various causes such as gastro esophageal redux disease ( GERD) , hiatus hernia , kidney stones .
However the symptoms described by you is probably suggestive of pancreatitis . Here the pain starts at the upper abdomen radiating to the back and the pain is intermittent in nature . It is usually associated with other symptoms like nausea , vomiting , tenderness in the upper abdomen , fever . Pancreatitis can occur due to gallstones , heavy alcohol abuse , infections , metabolic disorders , trauma . Since it has been only 2 weeks since the onset , it is still in the acute phase .
I would suggest you to get a set of investigations done such as complete blood test , liver function test , serum amylase and lipase , CT Abdomen and consult the physician with these reports .
This is treatable disease and subsides with appropriate antibiotics and fluids management . It would be best not prolong the need for treatment any further . Hope this helps .
Thank you .
