Resolved question:
In April of 2013 I did a one month strict diet called whole30 (similar to the Paleo diet except I was not allowed to eat any food with additives or anything processed). For that month I felt amazing, however once I came off of it my stomach had a terrible time digesting anything. No matter what I ate I would instantly become very gassy and had bad diarrhea 100% of the time. This lasted for 4 months until I visited a doctor who decided to give me 2 weeks of antibiotics. The antibiotics gave me horrible pains but I finished them and when they were finished I was totally back to normal.
For the past 5 months I have been perfectly fine until recently I attempted to do whole30 again. I did it for 6 days until I started noticing the diarrhea, gas, and pains coming back so I stopped. It has been 4 days and it is getting worse even though I stopped the diet. I fear whatever issue I had before the antibiotics is back again. Any suggestions or ideas at what is wrong with me?

1. I am 28 years old
2. None
3. They tested my blood. Not sure for what. They also tested my feces. All things they tested for came back negative.
4. I'm not on any medications.
Hi,
Thanks for providing the additional information.
The symptoms you have mentioned is suggestive of malabsorption.
You have mentioned that stool test did not reveal anything which means infection, which is the most common cause is ruled out.
Other causes of malabsorption should be looked in to.
An upper GI endoscopy with biopsy from the upper small intestine should be done to look for possible malabsorption cause.
Meanwhile you can take digestive enzyme supplements and probiotics for relief.
I hope that answers your question. I would be glad to answer any follow-up queries.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
I have taken probiotics and it did not help.
Hi,
As I told you malabsorption is a possibility and tests are to be done.
Probiotics alone may not be helpful. You need to take digestive enzymes also which I have mentioned in my previous post.
You can consult your primary care physician for prescription.
I forgot to add in my previous post. Another possibility is irritable bowel syndrome which cause abdominal pain/excess gas and diarrhea. My advise is to consult with your doctor about these possibilities and the tests and treatment options.
Would be glad to answer any further queries.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
