Resolved question:
Hi, I got diagnosed with HPV (causes GW) 6 years ago. I had a baby 2 1/2 years ago and lost both if my grandparents and had absolutely No outbreak. Am I still contagious or has my immune system fought it off? I did get it treated when I found out I had it. All Pap smears also come back normal. Thanks so much! :)

Hello,
Thank you for your query at Doctorspring.com
I understand your concern.
Normally most patients do get a recurrence once every year or once in 6 months or so. In some patients, after the active phase, the disease never really shows up again.
Since you had a disease-free period for the last 2 1/2 years, it is highly unlikely you will get any recurrences in the future. It definitely seems like the infection has cleared up.
Hope this was helpful,
Feel free to discuss further.
So with being 6 years wih absolutely nothing, I probably won't pass it on to anyone?? Because like I said, I only had that one out break 6 years ago, nothing since. :)
Yes, if he did not have warts in the last 6 years, there is 99 % chance you won't transmit the infection to anyone.
There is always that 1-2 % risk with viral infection, that it may show up later.
Regards.
