Resolved question:
On my MRI report dated 10-16-13, it states that I have three bulging discs with stenosis in my L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1. Diffusely decreased bone marrow signal is seen on T1-weighted imaging. Towards the end it states Myelefibrosis, Red marrow reconversion, Leukemia or Malignant processes. I don't really understand what that means.

Hello,
Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.
Could you please re send the second picture of the MRI. It is of low resolution and hence not readable.
What was considered the cause for the anemia ?
Was a Peripheral Smear test / Bone marrow test done ?
(If you the reports regarding anemia you can share them also)
Thank you
No bone marrow test done
Hello, thankyou for the new uploads.
I went through it.
Blood cells are produced in the bone marrow. Incidentally your MRI shows that your bone marrow does not appear normal, plus you have anemia.
The cause could be a hematological disease affecting the bone marrow like Myelofibrosis, leukemia etc.
The back pain that you are having could be related to the disc. You can try conservative treatment for the same. Avoid reclining of kneeling, avoid lifting in a bent position. You can use a corset brace. Try warm water fermentation by either dipping a towel in warm water and placing it on your back or standing under a warm shower for 10 minutes.
You will require the following set of investigations to determine the cause of your anemia and abnormal bone marrow finding on MRI.
1) Complete blood count (CBC) 2) Reticulocyte count 3)bone marrow smear 4) bone marrow biopsy.
Based on the test results further immunological and hematological test studies might be required.
If you have recently done the above tests I have mentioned, no need to repeat them. If you have the test results please can you upload them.
I hope this has helped. I will keep this consult open so that you can get back to me.
Thankyou
