Resolved question:
Dear doctor,
About 3 days before my mother found a large and thick lump in her neck. She also has no idea about from when it started appearing. It was seen in the lower left side of her neck. It was just about an inch below the centre of neck. It is about 1.5 inches in size and is very firm. She feels it some sort of tenderness when touched. At the same time, it is also causing some sort of discomfort in the back of head. Anyway, the lump is not causing any difficulty to her in mobility or so. Is this anything related to cancer? She is worrying a lot about cancer. Can a lymph node or a mass of lymph node get developed? Please help.

Thanks for your question. I can understand your concern about your mother. This might be due to some enlarged lymph node and which causes the infection in scalp and neck. It is better to consult with a doctor to take antibiotics if necessary. If this is not relieving the problems, your symptoms may include weight loss, night sweating and fever. If it happens so, it would be better to have biopsy to make sure that you are not affected.
