Lost foot in an accident. Best surgical operation?

Resolved question:
which surgical operation is best in my brother's case
we know he will need a prosthetic foot

1) do we leave it as is, and try to find a prosthetic?
or
2) do we do some reconstructive surgery? and then build a prosthetic foot?
or
3) do we turn the calcaneus bone in the other direction (in the forward direction), to have better support for him, and then do a prosthetic foot?
or
4) some other option perhaps?

I will upload the scans. He lost his foot in an accident as you can see from the two scans. The doctors told us we have a few hours to decide which operation we choose. Thank you!

Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I sincerely apologize for the late reply.
In such cases it will be better to remove the calcaneus and other bone talus and make a flap of heel skin.
Your surgeon knows well about this technique .With this a good planter flap will form and even he may walk on this amputee stump alone. The prosthetic foot also can be made over this.
Hope this will help you.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
