Resolved question:
I thought that I had become constipated but it turned out that I had very little in me. But I took too many laxatives and suppositories. Now how can I stop the horrible problems of my body trying to empty and I have nothing left?

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com. I am Dr. Kini and I am pleased to assist you.
I went through your post. I am not able to understand what you mean by - " Now how can I stop the horrible problems of my body trying to empty and I have nothing left?"
If you can provide some more details on this, I would try my best to assist you.

Well what I meant to say was that as a result of the laxatives and suppositories, I have nothing left in me, and it seems as even if I take a drink or some ice, it feels like it continues to push everything out. How long does it take for laxatives and suppositories to no longer cause the lower intestine to clear the stuff out. It's making me feel bad, and would love to know if there is something that will finally relax my rectum, so I can finally get rest. If you can help me, I would be very grateful!! Would taking Potassium help my situation at all? Thanks so much for your time Dr. Kini!!
Jeff
P.S, I have had no blood in my stools nor a fever. Other than that uncontrollable feeling of needing to go to the bathroom, I am doing fairly well.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for providing that information.
The first thing you need to do is to keep yourself well hydrated. Pushing everything out would lead to dehydration. Drink enough fluids and electrolyte solutions like equalyte to keep yourself well hydrated.Taking potassium alone will not help. A moist tongue and a good urine output are indicators that you are well hydrated.
Include rice, banana, crackers and toast in your diet.
Stop taking further any laxatives or using suppositories. The effects of already taken medications would last for a day.
Take immodium.
If in spite of all these you continue pushing out everything, get medical attention and your doctor would order for tests including a stool analysis.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr.R.K
