Resolved question:
1 week ago I noticed 2 patches of what appear to be some kind of rash. I intitially thought it might just be a heat rash as it's quite random only in 2 places - top of one buttock and back of one knee. It does feel slightly itchy but not over bearing.
Researching, I have looked at the possibility of bedbugs, scables etc. but cannot understand how this would have occured if the case. I've checked my mattress and there are absolutely no signs to indicate any kind of infestation. I would consider myself a very hygenic and 'house proud' person who regularly likes to keep things clean. I do not appear to have this cluster rash anywhere else but these places and there are no signs of any new ones.

Hello
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com. I can understand your concern. I reviewed the pictures.
I would like to give a possible diagnosis of herpes in this case. Looks to be a mild case. However its not clear in the pictures if you had fluid filled blisters. Also, I would like to know your age and did you undergo any stress in the past.
I would recommend an application of Mupirocin cream twice a day. Also please let me know the answer to my queries. It would be better to seek a prescription for an antiviral medication called valacyclovir if we conclude that it is herpes.
Thanks
Hello, in anaswer to your questions:
- no, there was no sign as I know of any fluid filled bllisters. My intial thoughts were that this was a heat rash.
- I am 33 and suffer from a lot of stress with work and children (ha) - recently I went to the doctor who prescribed me propranolol 40mg twice a day (this was for the chest/heart/ twinges I felt due to stress. I started taking this AFTER the skin issue and they have helped immensley with that problem.
If this is herpes then can you confirm how I may have gotten this? I am married and have absolutely no hesitation in saying that my husband has been faithful so how would I get herpes?
The clusters are fading now with little white outlines where the skin is repairing. They do not feel issue and there are also no signs of anymore.
Thank you
Hello
Thanks for posting your reply. I can understand your concern.
It does seem to be herpes simplex which could be rarely transmitted through toilet seat or sauna.
I would recommend application of Mupirocin cream on it twice daily.
It would be beneficial to take an anti viral medication called valacyclovir in case you get another episode.
Take care
