Resolved question:
Was recently perscribed clomid for test deficiency. My endocrine nurse wrote the script wrong and was wrongly perscribed clomipramine 25mg a anti depressant which I took for two days before realizing it was the wrong med. my question is how long before the clomipramine is out of my system. Like I said I have only take it twice but have had a terrible time sleeping the last two nights.

Hello. Let me know if you have any other queries.
Thanks for using DoctorSpring.com for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Let me calm you down first by stating that there is no need to panic. Clomipramine at 25 mg is a very low dosage and the usual dosages are upto 75 mg-150 mg. So two doses of 25 mg will not cause any long lasting effects in your body. The clomipramine will take around 48 hours to get washed out from your body. So just give it some time, and it will be eliminated from your body with no residual side-effects.
Just continue your routine. Nothing has to be done.
Kind regards,
Dr. Srikanth Reddy MD.
One last thing. The two nights where I did accidentally take it, I woke up in the middle of the night with hot flushes and sweating a lot. Is that a side effect of the medication?
Thanks for writing to us again. Hello Regards
Yes it could be a side effect of the medicine. Clomipramine can cause hypotension which can present with such symptoms . But now that you have stopped the medicines...you need not worry any further.
