After a night of heavy drinking the next day my head felt very strange, it felt as if I was going to faint, it kept coming in waves, it was not constant but it has lasted for a few days now, do you know why?

I can see that you are typically suffering from withdrawal symptoms of alcohol which is also called as hangover. Symptoms include dizziness, drowsiness, lack of concentration, headache, nausea, gastrointestinal complaints etc. which may continue even 24 hours after stopping of alcohol consumption.
These symptoms occur due effect of alcohol on body metabolism. Alcohol is converted into acetaldehyde in the body which impairs glucose, protein and lipid metabolism. It also induces dehydration and hypoglycemia.
I would suggest you drink plenty of water, OTC medications such as aspirin which will help to relieve your symptoms.
