Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I would appreciate if you would upload the reports in your reply so I can evaluet them as a whole before giving an opinion.
Your physician prescribed macrobid (nitrofurantoin) due to the leukocyte in urine which indicates that you have a current urinary tract infection.Completion of treatment is necessary to provide relief of symptoms. Do you think its possible that burning while urinating was confused for vaginal burning? Burning while urinating is a common symptom for a urinary tract infection.
Feel free to discuss further,
Hi Doc, Uploaded is the report,
As i mentioned before i am more concern about WBC,MPV and neutrophiles
Please shed light on the issue, appreciate that
Hello,
Thank you for your follow up at DoctorSpring.com
The normal range for WBC is 4000-11000, your value is 11,100 which is just outside of the normal but is not alarming. The same reason can explain your MPV which is just outside of normal and is neither a cause for concern nor something which requires treatment.
The increased neutrophils is an appropriate reaction of a healthy immune system to combat infection. Since you currently have a urinary tract infection, your body defends the infection from progressing by increasing the number of neutrophils to fight it off. Once you complete the regimen, these values should return to normal.
Hope this helps, feel free to discuss further
Thank you for the answer, my main concern was if this is common to have these values UP in UTI or not, which i assume will be back to normals once done with the course of AB, but are there any other illnesses it can be pointing towards other then UTI?
Hello,
Thank you for your follow up query.
Your WBC count and neutrophils is most likely elevated due to the urinary tract infection and yes the values will returnto normal once the infecting organisms have been cleared away.
A increased WBC (or neutrophil count) only indicates that there is infact an infection or inflammation in the body but it does not tell where the location of that infection is. We use imaging modalities (ultrasound, X-Rays) to determine that. But correlating clinical symptoms that you have burning in the same location and your urine has shown pus cells indicates that you have a urinary tract infection which is responsible for the elevated neutrophils.
Hope this clarifies things, feel free to discuss further
