Feeling sleepy at work, driving even with good sleep.

I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
You are definitely sleeping a lot especially the weekends where-in you are sleeping for more than 20 hours a day. The cause of increased need for sleep need to be evaluated. The most common causes are hypothyroidism and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Hypothyroidism is due to the deficiency of thyroid hormone and can be diagnosed with assessing the thyroid hormone levels using a blood test. The same if present can be corrected by supplementing thyroid hormone. The other condition, obstructive sleep apnoea results in a disturbed night sleep resulting in day time drowsiness. This can also be diagnosed by a (sleep study) using polysomnography. There are medicines available which can promote wakefulness and reduce drowsiness but both these conditions should first be ruled out before other causes can be considered.

Further to my below email just wanted to know if this has any thing to do if I am a smoker and an occasional drinker too.
What kind of blood test would you suggest for this.
Could you suggest some medicines for awakeness or to reduce drowsiness.

No. It is not related to you taking smoke or alcohol. Mostly I prescribe my patients 200mg of modalert containing modafinil. But this is a prescription drug and getting yourself evaluated before hand is advisable. The blood test required is thyroid profile test and the sleep study is called polysomnography.
