Resolved question:
Hello - For three weeks + 1 day, I have been taking 200mg per night of gabapentin for migraine. Not only have my migraines not subsided (5/7 days) but I have experienced extreme fatigue and sort of spaced out feeling. I'm having a hard time putting words together. I'm going to have botox for migraine on Monday so would like to get off this drug but have heard that it can be problematic to do so without medical advice. I understand I'm on quite a low dose and have been taking it for a relatively short period of time. Last night, I only took 100 mg, and I'm wondering if I need to keep doing that and if so for how long? Or if because I'm at a rather low dosage for a rather short period, it's ok to just stop. (P.s. the side effects are too difficult to continue to 'give it a chance' and I definitely feel that the length and strength of my migraines have increased over the last 2 weeks).
Thanks,
Rachel

Hi,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have noted your details, and I agree that gabapentin is not a good drug for treating migraine. You have been on a very low dose, and you can stop it at once, without having to slowly taper it.
Botox is one of the best therapies for migraine (I have injected that in many patients and they have all improved). So, I wish you all the best of luck for that.
I hope it helps.
