Difficult to swallow, bumps at back of throat. Treatment?

Resolved question:
Hello. I had a cold earlier this week, nothing unusual however after my symptoms improved I began to get a sore throat. This has got worse and is only on the right side. I do not have tonsils so I don't not usually suffer bad throat infections however this one is very Uncomfortable. It is difficult to swallow and it burns. I have looked in my month and there appears 1/2 lumps at the back of my month but I am not sure if these were there previously but are only on the affected side. I did go to the doctors today and he had a very brief look. I don't think he saw the lumps as these are only visible when I flex. He gave me antibiotics.

Can you advise what this is and if further treatment is needed.

Hello,

Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com

Picture shows lumps on the right side are remnant of tonsil only. And including this part your posterior pharyngeal wall is congested, so you are suffering from acute pharyngitis and you need a course of antibiotic.

You can start amoxicillin 500 mg three times daily.

Tab. Levocetirizine 5 mg once in the night.

Tab. Paracetamol 625 mg as and when required.

Betadine gargle two times

All for 5 days.

Hope this helps

Best regards
