Complete blood counts on lower end of normal on routine physical

I assume that you are a healthy induvidual with no chronic medical illnes. Your WBC count and Monocyte count and percentage is normal. Slighted elevated Monocyte count should not be evaluated in isolation. White blood cells consists of different types of cells like Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils etc. Their proption is dynamic and they are supposed to change in number in response to various stimuli. So a slight high monocytes actually means these cells are doing their duty.

Bottom line - Soft finding of no particular relevance. Absolute count Normal. If you are an otherwise healthy individual nothing to worry here.

Thank you for your time, Doctor. In your response, I see where you speak to elevated or high monocyte levels. However, my absolute monocyte level was below normal. Does this change your analysis?

As additional info: no chronic illness. This was my first complete blood panel as part of a physical. Cholesterol did come back in the borderline high range (235 mg/dl). Working on diet to address that issue.

Does any of the foregoing change your analysis?

No, the analysis would be same.

Absolute Monocyte count is 4.8 % of 4100 which is 197 (196.8 to be exact). Sine the WBC count is in the lower range, absolute monocyte count is also normal. It just because the machines(computers) cannot interpret the values with context they highlight as 'high' or 'low'. I am sure your Doctor would have said the values are all normal.
