Cause for feeling pressure and discomfort behind ribs.

Resolved question:
For around a month I have been feeling a pressure/tightness/discomfort right behind my lower left rib. It comes and goes, where there are several days I may not feel or notice it. It hasn't gotten any worse or better, just consistently the same for the past few weeks. It does seem to coincide with gas, but that could be connecting dots. My stools have been fine and no changes for me (I have mild crohn's disease which is in remission, and was located in my upper small intestine before I had surgery to remove the scarring). There has been no pain, and the discomfort is more just noticeable rather than an issue. The area is not tender to the touch or when I hit it nothing happens. Any ideas?

Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.
I understand your concern.
Good to know that your Crohn's is in remission.
You seem to be having on and off mild gastritis (inflammation of the stomach). This is causing the discomfort and the feeling of gas. And it will not be tender to touch.
Gastritis usually occurs due to excessive stress, a spicy diet etc., as a result of increased gastric acid production.
If you are facing excessive stress, then you need to take steps to de-stress yourself like meditation, yoga or whatever works for you.
In addition, please avoid spicy food.
You should take an OTC like Prilosec (Omeprazole 20 mg) , once in the night just before going to bed, for two weeks. This will take care of your symptoms.
I hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask queries.
Regards.
