Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
It is extremely difficult to predict. Once a HSV-2 infection is acquired, it persists for the rest of your life. Most people get 1-2 outbreaks an year. I just want to confirm - you have HSV-2 warts right?
Without warts for the past 4 years, it shows you have good immunity, and hence even if outbreaks come in the future it can be limited right away with Valacyclovir. If you're careful and avoid unprotected sex as far as possible, then there is nothing to worry about.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
I thought you were an expert? Warts as in hpv. Not hsv which would be cold sores.
Hello,
I am sorry that's why I wanted to clear the confusion.
Some patients refer to HSV-2 rash and sores as genital warts.
Once a person has been infected with HPV, it can persist in the bloodstream, however in some the infection clears up in 2-3 years time. Without any outbreak in the last 4 years, it seems to be the situation in your case. With good immunity it is possible to clear the infection, and outbreaks don't occur again in the future. In other group where it has not cleared, the virus persists in the mucous membrane of the genital area, and manifests in the form of warts sporadically.
So in your case, there is no reason to worry. You can date without worrying about warts.
I once again apologise for earlier confusion.
Please feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
