Resolved question:
Hello. I am a 25 year old male. I'm a boxer and approaching a fight in the next few weeks. I think I have a lot of anxiety. I'm not constantly worrying or anything, at least not consciously though I do have plenty to worry about. But I can't sleep at night and I lose my appetite and can't eat even though my body feels very hungry for nutrients. I have experimented with Xanax and kolonopin (seperatley) and they both fix everything. My concern is I don't want drugs in my system. I am totally sober for training camp and eat very healthy when I can get myself too. If I did get a benzo prescription would they slow me down? I've been to the gym the day after taking pain killers and it feels like I'm 50 lbs heavier. I move very slowly and get tired very fast. I know that those are opiots and benzos are different but would benzos lower my stimina or offect my cardio like opiots did. Or alcohol (alcohol is also very very hard on cardio) also to be clear I'm not talking about taking anything before the gym more like after to get rest and eat or to get me to sleep at night.
Thanks hope to hear from you

Hello,
Thank you for your consult at DoctorSpring.com.
I have gone through it in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Anxiety is definitely an important factor to put down your performance. The fact that you symptoms comes down with xanax or klonopin itself suggest that it is due to anxiety. Now both alcohol and xanax or klonopin act in the same way through GABA receptors. Hence they will certainly slow you down and cause increase in weight as well.
Initially you can start on Tab Ciplar 20 mg during day time and this will definitely reduce your anxiety. However before starting this medication do consult your doctor and make sure you are not having asthma or diabetes where it is contraindicated.
If the symptoms persist even after taking ciplar then probably you will have start yourself on anti anxiety drugs like escitalopram or mirtazapine etc. Benzo will be there in your system and can mark you as an abuser and its better to refrain from such an option.
If you are averse to the drugs then option of cognitive behavioral therapy is also a good option. They try to modify your thinking process and identify your fault thinking patterns. Biofeedback therapy and relaxation exercises like jacobsons progressive muscle relaxation therapy can also help you.
Hope that helps, please feel free to discuss further.

So the bottom line is. If I we're to take 1 or 2 cubes off a Xanax bar either in the afternoon after training or in the evening I would be less capable if strenuous activity the following day?
Hello,
Yes thats exactly what i was trying to explain to you. Try avoiding such a mistake espcially as you are so much into sports.
Thanks
