Becoming tipsy after drinks. Do I have LIVER FAILURE?

Resolved question:

Am I suffering from liver failure? I am a 21 year old white male attending college. I have normally had roughly 4 drinks on an almost daily basis for a semester so far. In the recent past I have been able to drink without eating anything and be perfectly fine. Although, now whenever I have one or two drinks I become tispy or even drunk even after eating. There is no medical history of my family or my own that relates to this topic. I fear for a possible fatal condition and would love to hear your answer on this.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
No, this is not a sign of liver failure, and drinking alcohol continuously for one semester does not cause that serious damage to lead to liver failure. As we grow up, our alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme reduces, and the metabolism becomes slow, So, the alcohol hits you much earlier, than it used too before. This is common, and you should not worry about it.
However, for your liver health, I will advise you to not drink everyday and cut it down to 1-2 drinks every week. In the longer run it may cause cirrhosis of liver if you continue like this
Hope this was helpful,
Regards,
Dr. J
