Resolved question:
I have been having an ache on the left side of my neck for like 5 days now. When it gets moved a certain way I can feel the ache or soreness. The ache extends from the front of the edge of my collar bone to the back of my ear/neck area to down my back shoulder blade area. I think it is only muscle tension. But it is aggravating. I have been taking a muscle relaxer but it helps minimally. What else could it be? Is a muscle strain the likely cause? I have been putting icy hot on it as well. I have no other symptoms, though 5 days ago my whole body ached somewhat for a while. Not sure if that matters or what.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
Yes, it does sound like muscle pull, and I need to know what muscle relaxer you have used. Neck muscle strain can stay for weeks if not taken care of, and gets aggravated on slightest of neck movements.
Kindly let me know what muscle relaxer you used and I will get back to you,
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
I have been taking cyclobenzaprine, it helps minimally/ I don't know how I would have pulled that muscle. It extends down to my should blade. But I feel it more in the neck area.
Sometimes a viral infection can present similarly, and involves other muscles too, but there are no signs or symptoms of any viral infection in your case.
You can apply some good local analgesic available locally directly on the neck muscle, and apart from that you need to take Advil 3 times daily after food.
Please update me in 3 days time if there's an improvement.
Regards.
