Resolved question:
Hello doctor, Let me explain what the reason of my frustration is. I found a girl who I know, but not so well. She promised me that she doesn’t have any sort of sexually transmitted diseases or STIs and we later ended up with a great sexual intercourse. Anyway, I remembered to use a condom for penetrative sex. But removed the condom and went unprotected for oral sex. I suddenly found a cold sore in the bottom of her lip and thought that this might be causing genital herpes in her. I searched online for further details and am worried more, and was stricken with fear, as I found that herpes can be caught through oral sex. I read that cold sores are symptoms for genital herpes and am really frustrated now. I have rashes looking like bug bites all over my body and that was there before having sex with this girl. Anyway, I feel weak and my back is paining like nothing and even my tongue has got lumps on it. I have those lumps in my penis too. These are not hurting or oozing out any liquids but they are present there. Should I be concerned with these symptoms to be that of genital warts? Please help me.

Thanks for your question and concern. As you might have read online, genital herpes is caused by two types of herpes simplex viruses namely HSV Type 1 and HSV type 2. Of these, HSV type 1 is more dangerous and can be spread from an affected person to others through saliva and oral sex. It cause infections in mouth, lips etc. HSV type 2 is responsible of causing genital herpes. Moreover, any of these viruses can harbor in any part of body and cause infections in both genitalia and mouth due to oral sex practices. In people who doesn’t have any symptoms which are seen with naked eys, there is a lower risk of transmitting the disease. But this is doubled if a person has got visible lesions or symptoms of genital herpes. It is better for you to contact your doctor to rule out a possibility of any STDs. You may have to undergo blood tests to find out infections if any. Please take into consideration that condoms are not so effective in preventing STDs and pregnancy too, even if they are not broken. Abstinence from sex with people who are known to have any sexual disease is the only method to be unaffected with any of the same. Hope my answer clears your doubts, Take care.
